The central coast of California is beautiful in the spring. California poppies, the state flower, emerge yearly and, to my frustration and delight, oh, so randomly. For a couple of years I've strewn thousands of seeds in my yard, but they generated a total of 5 blossoms. I have better luck creating collage poppies than growing them!
